I love to journal. I have numerous journals sitting on my shelf full of rich content and words the Lord impresses upon my heart. I have been blessed with the gift of hearing the Father heart of God for His people. In my quiet time I simply write what I feel the Lord is saying.
At some point I started, rather shyly, reading portions of my journals to those who are close to me. I was surprised to see tears well up in their eyes and they said, "that was so powerful." That encouraged me to share them with a broader circle of people who enjoyed getting my emails. Eventually this lead me to publishing my first book, Living Authentic Faith: Vivid Impressions of the Heart - a women's devotional. Writing a book was not anywhere on my "things to do list"!
Many times I go back to my journals to read what I wrote and think, "I couldn't make this stuff up. I'm not that smart". Journaling is one way of quieting my heart and letting the words flow. Nope, I probably don't always hear perfectly. I'm still learning to listen, but what I do get out of it blesses me, and hopefully other people too.
I want to encourage you to journal your own thoughts. It has a way of opening up your heart, your feelings, your dreams, even your fears. Let your pen take you where it needs to go. It can be very healing for you to put things on paper. Go ahead, journal. Let me know how it goes, okay?
